I Have a Full-Time Job - Can I File Chapter 7?

Working full-time does not automatically preclude you from filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy.  Bankruptcy courts determine eligibility for filing Chapter 7 by utilizing something called the means test.   There are several steps involved in determining eligibility through the means test.   First, the test compares your median income to that of your state.   In Texas, the median income is $32,294 for an individual household and $65,477 for a family of four.   Next, the means test compares the amount of money you bring home to the amount owed to unsecured creditors.

Many people who work full-time file for Chapter 7 every year.  Find out for sure whether or not you can file for Chapter 7 by contacting a seasoned professional at the Fears | Nachawati Law Firm.
