I Have a Job - Can I File Chapter 7?

Whether or not you will be able to file for Chapter 7 depends on where you fall on the means test. The means test compares how much money a debtor has brought in over the past six months to the median income of other residents of that state with the same amount of people in the household. This varies greatly from state to state.  In Texas, the median income for a family of 4 is just under $57,000.
