How Does My Chapter 7 Trustee Get Paid?

There are a combination of ways trustees receive payment in a Chapter 7.  Firstly, the trustee receives a portion of your Chapter 7 filing fee. In some cases where a Chapter 7 debtor has assets that will be liquidated, the trustee receives a portion of that, which is considered a commission. Also, any legal services executed to collect or liquidate assets are payable to the trustee, unless he/she hires another attorney to handle this portion.
