There are a number of programs available that claim to help consumers manage their debt and lead them on the road to financial freedom. However, in the eyes of the United States Bankruptcy Court all credit counseling programs are not created equal. There are a select group of programs that are approved by the court for qualification for a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 filing. If you happen to take, or have taken, a course that is not approved you will not be eligible to file for bankruptcy.
