Chapter 7 Filings on the Rise in Texas

Everything is bigger in Texas, even bankruptcy filings.  According to the United States Trustee Program, Chapter 7 filings in the Lone Star State increased by 83% between 2007 and 2009.  In 2007 over 18,950 Chapter 7 filings were recorded statewide.  Filings rose from 21,438 in 2008 to 28,125 in 2009.
