Filing Bankruptcy as a Couple

Married couples have the option of filing for bankruptcy protection individually or as a couple. Married couples that jointly file taxes and include both names on credit items such as home and auto loans may find it beneficial to file a joint petition for bankruptcy.  Also, if both husband and wife are severely in debt a joint bankruptcy may be the easiest option.
