Knowing the Local Rules

Bankruptcy law is federal.  This means that its laws span across the nation, as opposed to only within one particular state.  Despite being governed by the federal Bankruptcy Code, debtors are also subject to each court's local rules.  Local rules are a set of rules that each court sets and are not governed by a higher law, such as federal or state law.

Each court has its own set of local rules.  The local rules in the Northern District of Texas are different than the Eastern district.  These rules are often subtle and difficult for debtors to navigate without the aid of savvy counsel.  The bankruptcy attorneys at the Fears | Nachawati Law Firm are experienced in filing cases in many different courts and can guide you through this process.
